SHORT STORY

Flowers

On a sunny day, Nigel and his friends gather for their recess time at the school’s canteen. John and Derp are planning to buy some apples. Derp asks Nigel to buy apples for the three of them. Nigel nods and takes the money. A minute after, he arrives with a bag of apples and they eat them together.
“Hey guys, tomorrow is Father’s day what do you got for your Pops?” John asks.
“I got this new cool sunglasses I bought from Aling Myrna’s garage sale.” Derp replies.
“Dude, that is way too old for a not so cool dad. Not like me that my dad is so cool, I   will give him this ball used by Michael Jordan way back 1989.” John boasts.
“Deym!” Derp replies. “How about you Nigel?” he added.
“I will give him flowers.” Nigel replies solemnly.
“Dude, are you nuts?” John laughs.
“Flowers for your father? Really dude?
“He gay”? Derp added. John and Derp laughs at Nigel for his gift to his father.
After that day, John and Derp celebrates Father’s day with their families. While Nigel and his family spends that day on his father’s grave. There lies a bunch of flowers wet with tears.

          Date:               July 26, 2016
To:                   All faculty members and teachers
            From:              Brgy. Cpt. Jontaks Makatigbas
Subject:          Staying of Students in Computer Shops during School Hours.

Yesterday, I and my men roamed around the barangay and we have seen your students staying and playing inside the computer shops nearby your school campus. It was 9 o’clock in the morning which was obviously school hours. We are disappointed to see those children not attending their classes. And seeing them still wearing their school uniform playing computer games was really disturbing.

I would like to ask you to strictly prohibit your students from cutting classes or staying outside the school campus to avoid unnecessary incidents/accidents.

INCIDENT REPORT

Incident title:                 Mauling Incident
Location:                        Room H3B, 3rd floor, DPT Building, UM Matina
Date of Incident:            @3:30 p.m. August 4, 2016
Incident type:                 Gang Conflict
Fatalities:                       One (1)
Person(s) involved:        Franing Khey and Berting Isige
Investigator:                            SPO4 Jack Hoback (Talomo Police Station)

Description or latest development:
A hot situation on a hot afternoon smoked-up at Room H3B, DPT Building. I was a conflict between the Manu Gang and the Teghu-Seni Gang. A strong conversation with vulgar words between the two founders of each rival gang that ended up in a fight.
Mr. Yoso and Mr. Ador, who were the guards who responded immediately to the scene, had a hard time to get closer to the incident. A student told me that someone warned the two that the guards was approaching, then they evacuated quickly out of the room. But Franing Khey, a 3rd year Criminology student, was caught by the guards. He was seriously hurt that he could not run fast, that is why he was the only person involved caught to custody. He was brought to the hospital first, but the victim was said to be dead on arrival after. The victim was shot. “He was shot after he tried to steal the gun of Mr. Ador. The guard performed a self defense act and shot Mr. Khey.”, a statement from Mr. Yoso. But in the investigation, a cellphone was confiscated from Mr. Ador and a suspicious message was discovered. “Patayin mo na yan bhosz”, was the latest message came from Berting Isige who was the suspect in the mauling scene. We are further performing investigation if therefore Mr. Ador and the suspect have relations in the incident.

PRESIDENT RODRIGO DUTERTE

The First President from the Land of Promise

Our beloved president of the Republic of the Philippines, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, is the bravest man I have known. He has the guts to strictly rule a nation for what is best for his people. Behind his mean appearance is a loving father. Not only for his children, but also to the people of Davao, and now the Philippines. He is humble, for he does not want a special treatment for him because he wants to be a person that is easy to approach and shows compassion with his people.
President Digong has a wide respect for women. He respected them as much as he respected his mother. Despite of his dirty mouth, President Digong will do intentionally whatever he says. He is responsible in his words that he cannot promise things he cannot do. Even though, people see him as the “Man with the Iron Fist”, but those people who believes in him see President Rodrigo Duterte, the man with the passion and will to change the country for the best.
