PARAGRAPH BY NARRATION:

The Ice Prince

There was an aloof boy who seldom talks to other people and loved to be alone. He did not socialize with others so he did not have many friends. He was even referred to as the “Ice Prince “.

One day, the Ice Prince was staring in space lost in the song he was listening on his earphones when a girl passed in front of him. He did not know why, but this girl caught his eyes. Her smile was so bright she could light up the whole place. The Ice Prince found himself admiring the most beautiful he had seen. The girl sat on a chair across him and he noticed that the girl was wearing earphones too.

The Ice Prince was staring intently to the girl that when she mouthed the lyrics of the song she was listening into he realized both of them were listening to the same song. The girl happened to catch the Ice Prince looking at her and she smiled. The Ice Prince felt something inside him melted and before he knew what he was doing, he showed his wonderful smile to the world for the very first time.

Could it be that the Ice Prince finally found his Ice Princess?

PARAGRAPH BY DESCRIPTION:

The Man with the Iron Fist

Rody Roa Duterte, famously known with his nickname “Digong”, is a rebellious son and a prankster brother. His rebellious nature ripened when he reached his teen years, but after the death of his father, he took things very seriously including his studies.Like his father, Rody would become a "career-oriented" government official. Rody’s leadership style and soft heart for the masses came from his father while his fighting spirit came from his mother who really shaped him to be the feisty character and go-getter that he is now.
Rody is a bull-headed leader and very sure of himself. He is an impatient man who wants high-impact results. With him, everything is urgent. He does things his way and has committed what would normally be considered political suicide with his do-it-or-die attitude. Zero tolerance for criminals is his ultimate policy for which he earned the name “The Punisher”. He was particularly provoked by injustice or arrogance. He wants things felt and experienced by the masses. He is equally strict with his own family members as he is with other troublemakers.
He is skilled at evading questions he deems sensitive. He knows all about power play and how to use situations to his advantage. He is a very self-aware man who knows his weaknesses and is not above asking for help from people smarter than him. He has a limited circle of multi-disciplinary people that helps him digest issues like foreign affairs, the economy, and infrastructure.
Beneath his dominant personality is an excellent committed politician. His determination to get what he wants extends to matters of the heart. He is the kind of local government executive who was fond of visiting all the barangays, casually chatting with residents and grabbing a snack with barangay officials, just like an ordinary person. He has an easy rapport with people especially with the police and military. He is a "consultative" leader that listens to his constituents and creates laws and programs that address their concerns. More than his tough-talking and feisty ways, it is his ability to listen to people’s concerns that sets him apart from other politicians.
He has been a public official for over 20 years and he has not lost a single election in his life. He is familiar with the locals and has an easy-going personality that gave him the edge over his opponents. It’s not doubtful to say his unconventionality won him the seat in Malacañang as the 16th president of the Philippines. He has been in politics for many years but he is not a “trapo” or traditional politician. He speaks candidly without fear of the political consequences of what he says. He is a problem solver and has a track record of good governance. He is an achiever and a transformational leader.

He has become a symbol, but he is every inch as flawed as the next man and he had been very open about it. To his critics, he is a threat to democracy, a sexist punk, an unholy man, and even a cold-blooded murderer who disrespects human rights. But to his supporters, he is the promoter for change. He is the strong leader with a soft heart. He is the ordinary man against the oligarchs, the crime-fighter, the compassionate dictator and the saviour. There are several reasons to love or hate this Mayor of Davao City. But the imposition of strict rules in his jurisdiction undeniably improved peace and order and public safety.
Duterte is now 71 years old, making him the oldest president this country has ever had. This understandably frustrates those who expect a leader to bend their will. But it’s this same inflexibility that attracts believers who want a leader who will do everything he can to keep his promises. And what are these promises? Suppression of crime, drugs, and corruption in 3 to 6 months; a more prosperous Mindanao; peace with communist and Moro rebels, a federal system of government for the country; and much more.

In the next six years, who will Duterte prove right? Will it be his critics or his supporters? Perhaps he will go unpredictable and surprise everyone. Something for us to look forward to.

INCIDENT REPORT

Incident Title:              Mauling Incident
Location:                    UM DPT, 3rd Floor at Room #313
Date of Incident:       August 4, 2016 (3:30 pm)
Incident Type:           Gang Conflict
Evacuations:             30 (Estimate)
Injuries:                      1
Fatalities:                   None

Description of the Incident:

The gang of the victim, Franing Khey, and the suspect, Berting Isige, were known to be mortal enemies. These gangs were involved in riots against each other for such a long time.

Franing Khey was sleeping in his seat during our class in English 201A when Berting Isige attended the class late and attacked Franing Khey. Franing Khey was caught off-guard resulting to his multiple injuries.

During their brawl, Berting can be heard shouting at Franing saying he’ll avenge his friend for what Franing did during one of their riots. Franing fought Berting with little success and it was apparent that he was struggling to keep up to his opponent.

The witness ran outside the room and informed the nearest guards. The guards then responded and the scene was cleared at around 4:00pm. Franing and Berting were taken to the guidance office for further investigation.
